Privacy policy
Last updated 2 November 2026
This policy explains what data Checkpoint Guides ("the site", "we") collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep this page deliberately short because we do not collect much.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not sell or share your address.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider and analytics tools record standard technical data: IP address, browser type, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is aggregate data used to understand which guides are useful. We do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.
Cookies and advertising
This site displays advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies for interest-based advertising; their own privacy policies govern that use.
We do not serve advertising to readers we know to be under 13, and this site is not directed at children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Under the GDPR and similar laws you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents may request disclosure or deletion of personal information and may opt out of its sale — we do not sell personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details on the contact page. Because we hold very little data, most requests resolve quickly.
Data retention
Server logs are kept for a short rolling period for security purposes and then discarded. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the enquiry.
Third-party links
Guides may link to storefronts, wikis, or publisher sites. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the practices of other websites.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
